Firework Display
in Smalltown USA
a warm summer
evening
a slight breeze
patriotic music
dramatic blasts of color, design, light, and sound
blankets or chairs covering
virtually every square inch
amazingly subdued and awed crowd
small children’s muted voices
softly sharing
this happy feeling
of responsible freedom for all
a slight breeze
patriotic music
dramatic blasts of color, design, light, and sound
blankets or chairs covering
virtually every square inch
of spacious
gently sloping grass
peaceful feeling
of safetyamazingly subdued and awed crowd
small children’s muted voices
softly sharing
this happy feeling
of responsible freedom for all
