Each evening at Bryce,
Amy would download her pictures
onto her computer
then show them to me.
“Wow,” I thought,
“that’s the best picture anyone
has ever taken of me.”
“Wait!
That’s not my scarf or hat.
It’s not me at all!
It’s Amy.”
It was a moment of
enlightenment.
What might have been, but isn’t.
It lasted just an instant,
yet it was so real it made me
realize,
for the first time,
that we look alike.
We share the same genetics.
Family resemblances are
powerful.
I always thought she was more
in her dad’s image:
Fair * Blond * Smart * Quick
Sharp * Bright * Clever *
Capable
Striking * Problem solver * Good
cook
Messy
Oh, Oh
This is more what I remembered.
Darn
