One More Day Part III

You might think this is a mishmash.
Not at all.
It's all selected and connected.
This is granddaughter, Brigitte,
actually wearing the jewelry she chose
after Grandma cleaned her jewelry drawer.
I couldn't believe it when she showed up
at Grandpa's birthday dinner they hosted
wearing the necklace, ring,
 and combs in her hair.
I never wore those combs once.
My hair was always too thin and fine.
Not my beautiful auburn-haired granddaughter.
I continue with my cleaning one-thing-a-day.
We've lost track of the trips we've taken to Deseret Industries.
Twenty-eight crates of books from the basement bookshelves alone.
Sewing machine, magazine racks, stereo systems, speakers,
basketballs, baseballs, footballs, soccer balls, mitts.
Why would anyone name a kid Mitt?

How many years has it been since we've seen DeRay's desk top?
He hates it in here now.
He says he can't find anything.
The pictures on the top left
are our Kanab-Valley tributes.
Kanab Canyon by renowned artist Thomas Moran (painted 1892)
and a photo of White Mountain that Verda gave me (taken 2013).
Daddy and my soldier-boy on the file cabinet
as well as a doll Carol made while she was living in Japan.
Stuffed in beside her is a rag doll we bought in Russia.
Photos of Brooke around the age he was baptized; Amy and Brent at graduation time.
DeRay's New Garden.
is keeping him ever so busy.

 North Garden
 Yes!
Our third ripe tomato.
 South Garden

This is our last neglected rose bush and our thriving Morning Glory.
Do you wonder why DeRay isn't in any of the pictures?
He's to the doctor.
He's been to one doctor or another nearly everyday this week.
Friday an ultrasound revealed he has two blood clots in his leg.
Dr. Beus was out of town when he got the results
so he went to an after-hours clinic in Kaysville.
Dr. Yeates told him that he would be on Coumadin
for the rest of his life,
after a jump-start with two shots a day for five days.
Dr. Beus said he would be on Coumadin for six months.
What are we to conclude?
When DeRay came home after seeing Dr. Yeates, he quipped:
"The bad news is I'll be on Coumadin for the rest of my life.
The good news is, it won't be for very long."
He had to cancel his appointment for a root canal
and reschedule for next week.
Some people have all the fun.
 This is his workshop.
It used to be a garage.
He's drilled 195 feet of tiny holes for this new drip system.
He still has 110 feet to go.
He drills three tiny holes every 4 inches or
9 holes per foot.
The South Garden has
ten 20-foot rows
with 180 tiny holes each.
It takes him 1/2 hour per 10 feet,
if everything goes smoothly,
which, of course, it never does.
Tiny drills break easily.
He had to order the drill bits on line.
#57.  .043" in diameter.
The smallest drill bit you can buy
in the local hardware store is 1/16.
Just too darned big
since the 1/16 hole would let out
3 times as much water as the #57.
The north garden is still on the sprinkler system,
until he gets the pipes drilled and laid.
The south garden is connected to the drip system.
"I honestly can't tell which garden is doing best," he admits.
 And then Saturday night,
the Supermoon Graced the Night's Sky.
The moon appeared about 14 percent larger because,
as you know,
it travels along an elliptical orbit around Earth.
We opened our bedroom blinds and stared
until we fell asleep.
