On Sunday, our Ward Mission Leader, Bob Smith, invited us
over for what was maybe a Farewell for Elder Carroll. It was for sure a home teaching visit, Family Home Evening and a
Carroll reunion if Elder Carroll made it.
He and his companion, Elder Souday from Tahiti, made it just before the opening
prayer. Hannah played a piano solo. Elsie tumbled constantly. Olivia led the singing. Grandmother Billie is one of my all-time favorite people. The old Ward Mission Leader, Dave, and his friend, Dave, also came. Brother Henderson gave a message on setting
goals. The Elders sang a couple of hymns
and then the good part: Emily's famous Hot Fudge
sundaes with berries, brownies and bananas.
Charles Carroll's grandson.
Charles was my classmate through about 4th grade,
cousin, and friend.
We haven’t heard if he was
transferred the next day or not. Maybe
his farewell was in vain.
Lovely evening regardless.
Oh yes, he brought my Carroll book back. Bob made sure of that.

Elder Carroll (double r double l) looks like a Carroll doesn't he?
The first night he left, I told DeRay he looks just like I remember Charles looked. Billie thought he looked like he had Indian blood in him. We asked him and he said his mother was Italian.
