Yesterday was DeRay’s 84th birthday.
No shock to us.
He’s been saying he’s 84 all year.
Now he’ll start saying he’s 85.
He likes to get a jump on the years.
A couple of times while he was talking
To his sisters and brother on the phone,
When he said something that involved me,
He winked at me.
Why does that still send thrill chills
Up and down my spine
After nearly 62 years of marriage?
