Carpet Squares and Carrolls

Remember Elder Carroll whom our Ward Mission Leader brought to our home one winter evening a year or so ago? He was released from his mission in July and brought his folks back for a visit. Carlos, Charles Carroll's son is on the left; then his wife Yvette, a convert to the church, Hayden Carroll, their son, and Jeanette. Hayden is going to start school at SUSU in Cedar City.

Billie, 90-years-old, the oldest woman in our ward for 35 years, and DeRay. Annette, my visiting teacher, born in 1936 also, says she is the 4th oldest woman in our ward. That makes me the 5th.  Distinction at last.

 The Smiths, who hosted the evening, invited all the ward mission leaders who served while Elder Carroll was on his mission here. Georgia and Rick Tew, who recently returned from their own mission to Austria.

and Dave and Amelia Avery, a family they worked with.

This is what I learned about our long lost cousins who moved from Orderville after the war, to Emmett, Idaho; and from there to Gilbert, Arizona.
1. Donald is the only boy still alive.
2. Marlene and her husband are in a Rest Home. Lucille's husband is celebrating his 80th birthday soon. ClaraMae and her husband (the Brinkerhoff from Glendale) are on a mission.
3. Carlos lives next door to his mother, Darlene. His dad (Charles) died when he was 53. Carlos is 52 now. When Charles died, they had three children on missions and seven still at home. She worked as a janitor for a couple of years then renewed her nursing certificate and worked as a school nurse for almost 30 years, retiring only a couple of years ago. All of her children live closeby.
4. None of Yvette's family have joined the church. 
5, Carlos is bishop of a Single's Ward.
6. His brother, wife and four kids were to the Heaton Reunion over the 24th of July. Wonder how we missed them amongst the throng?
6. We can see family resemblances in each other. We are related on the Carroll, Hoyt, Heaton, and Esplin lines. (That's all of my lines. Carlos has equally as many on his mother's side; but on his father's side, we share the same ancestry.)
