DeRay always tried to think of something

To do on Saturday with Ed;

Even if it was just going to the grocery store.

For years, they stopped by to see Aunt Olive.

Now she is gone.

We are older and slower and

Since we always seem to be behind,

There have been no Saturday outings lately.

“Friday, Gateway to the Weekend,”

Ed routinely announces on Friday.

Today he exclaimed:

“Friday, Gateway to the BORING Weekend.”

Sad.
